One of the fascinating aspects of hand casting couverture is the magical and unique patterns that emerge on each blox. Our batches are cast in very small numbers to enable us to control the colour and the flavour of your favourite Rok Blox. The amount of spice or superfood we add to a batch to achieve a standardised flavour is always the same. But when two colours or flavours combine in the bowl and are then pour into the mold, they blend differently every time. The first Blox cast is always vastly different from the last Blox cast because, as the chocolate cools its liquidity decreases and the colours or flavours blends in a different manner.
The way we pour the chocolate into the mould can also affect the patterns that emerge. Pouring into the centre of the mould will produce a different effect compared to drizzling the couverture in circles or zigzags. A further variation is achieved through the created materials we use to texturise the face of some of our Blox. For example, scrunched up paper is used to achieve the unique pattern on our Lemongrass & Turmeric Blox, but the paper will never scrunch the same way twice.
Unmoulding a Rok Blox is always an exercise of discovery. We believe this makes Rok Blox unique and stands us apart from other artisan chocolate And helps us create a unique product that delights and surprises us every time.
